Account Linking: Secure and flexible wallet access

Sequence Account Linking

One of the significant challenges for developers has been creating a seamless yet robust authentication process that offers both convenience and security. That’s because players today demand not just immediate access to their favorite games but also safeguards to ensure they can access their hard-earned in-game items at all times and in the most versatile way, without worrying about which account they are logging in with or which password to remember.

That's why we enabled Account Linking for Sequence Embedded Wallet solution, allowing multiple game accounts to be linked to a single wallet. This feature enables different use cases, which we are going to outline in this blog article.

What is Account Linking and why it matters for game developers

Before Account Linking, embedded wallets in web3 games could be associated with only one social authentication method. This limitation created a significant challenge: if a player lost access to their chosen social account, recovering the wallet and its items was a challenge.

Account Linking eliminates this issue, allowing players to link multiple accounts to a single embedded wallet, making recovery and login processes more flexible and secure.

Account Linking for Sequence Embedded Wallet

Account Linking is now available to developers leveraging Sequence Embedded Wallet, the most secure and versatile Wallet-as-a-Service (WaaS) solution in the web3 gaming space.

Enhanced security and recovery options: By linking multiple authentication methods - Email, social media, PlayFab, or others - players have added security and flexible recovery options, reducing the risk of losing access to their wallets and in-game items.

Seamless Guest Wallet upgrades: Account Linking is particularly beneficial for games that offer Guest Wallets. Initially, players can jump right into the action with a Guest Wallet, enjoying immediate access and in-game transactions. With Account Linking, players can later convert their Guest Wallets into authenticated ones by linking a social authentication method, like an email or social media account, without losing any progress or assets.

What does this all look like in action? See for yourself on our Jelly Forest demo, which showcases how each player can upgrade their Guest Wallet into a full game account using their email providerX
