Sunflower Land adheres to real-world economic principles of supply and demand, with an in-game mechanic that increases resource scarcity over time and instills economic lessons in its players. The community-driven, open-source, play-and-own game enables users to collect valuable semi-fungible token (SFT) game items and trade them on a web3 collectibles marketplace.
After launching at the beginning of 2022, the farming simulation saw its player base soar 60,000% in the first 4 months after its release and became the 8th most-played blockchain game by player count. At one point, the game, originally called Sunflower Farmers, had to be taken offline after its viral growth led to blockchain-wide congestion on Polygon and a spike in transaction fees.
Sunflower Land was ranked the number one Polygon game by DappRadar and has one of the largest communities in web3 gaming, with 168,000 Discord members.
