Horizon is now Sequence, and we’re welcoming Light to the team

Today, we’re excited to announce a major milestone in our journey: we’re unifying our brand and expanding our capabilities to drive the future of web3 development. We are officially rebranding our company from Horizon to Sequence, consolidating our identity under a name the market knows, trusts, and relies on for best-in-class blockchain infrastructure.

In addition to this rebrand, we’re thrilled to welcome Light, a pioneering company in chain abstraction, through a strategic acquisition. Together, we’re accelerating our mission to unify the Ethereum ecosystem of chains and make web3 development more accessible, seamless, and powerful than ever before.

Embracing the future of web3 development: Why we are now Sequence

When founding Horizon in 2017, we set out to accelerate the creation of web3 content, drive the adoption of blockchain technologies, and usher in the next generation of the Internet for the benefit of all participants. We focused our energy on both our developer platform Sequence, and on creating other products to advance the space, including the award-winning game Skyweaver.

Over the years, Sequence grew to become the leading development platform for web3 games, and has since expanded to become the leading open-source infrastructure stack and development platform for web3 games, ecosystems, chains, and apps. Developers trust Sequence to build, scale, and unify blockchain experiences without the complexity of stitching together multiple solutions.

Given this evolution, it no longer makes sense to maintain separate brands. The broader industry recognizes us as Sequence, so we’re embracing this identity, simplifying our messaging, and focusing on the Sequence brand moving forward. This transition will streamline how we communicate our vision and products, ensuring clarity and consistency for developers, partners, and the broader ecosystem.

As Sequence, we exist to unify blockchain ecosystems, and empower developers to deliver the next generation of onchain experiences.

From this point onward, Horizon is now Sequence.

Welcoming Light: Unifying the Ethereum ecosystem

Our rebrand isn’t the only exciting news. Through a strategic acquisition, we’ve welcomed the talented team from Light to help solve one of the biggest challenges in web3: chain fragmentation.

Since 2018, we’ve recognized that Ethereum would scale as an ecosystem made up of many EVM-compatible chains. We architected Sequence with the vision to unify all these chains and serve “Ethereum as one.” Sharing an identical vision, Light has been a pioneer in chain abstraction, working to make Ethereum’s ecosystem of blockchains—layer 1s, L2s, and L3s—feel like one. Their expertise will supercharge Sequence’s capabilities to enable seamless interoperability across chains, and simplify user and developer experiences.

Together, we’re advancing a future where blockchain complexity fades into the background—unlocking a truly unified and scalable web3 ecosystem that is more accessible and more rewarding for all participants.

Solving chain fragmentation

The rapid growth of Ethereum and EVM-compatible blockchains has led to fragmentation. Assets and liquidity are scattered, transactions are cumbersome, and both users and developers face unnecessary friction when navigating a multi-chain world.
