Sequence is now live on Base: an ecosystem partnership to bring the next billion users to web3

We’re excited to announce that Sequence is now live on Base, a developer-friendly Ethereum Layer 2 solution that aims to bring the benefits of blockchain technology to the masses!

Introducing Sequence and Base

Sequence was created by Horizon Blockchain Games which released its first game, Skyweaver, back in 2017.

Currently in Beta, Skyweaver boasts a thriving community of hundreds of thousands of players. However, as with any new project launch in the web3 space, there were several challenges that needed to be overcome for our team to achieve the growth and success that we’re seeing today.

Given that most early web3 gamers had no prior blockchain knowledge, our team of experts had to resolve various infrastructure and user experience challenges to facilitate seamless onboarding and non-stop entertainment when creating a fun game that players would love.

Overcoming burdensome wallet creation and integration processes, high gas fees, costly and limited purchasing and trading of digital items, and complex network selection were some of the primary hurdles that Horizon sought to overcome.

As an all-in-one solution to these challenges, Horizon created Sequence: a modular, all-in-one developer suite that empowers builders across industries to create seamless web3 experiences spanning multiple blockchain networks. 

Meanwhile, our friends at Coinbase have consistently pursued their vision of establishing an open financial system for global economic freedom. Their journey has included key milestones, including the development of protocols like Bitcoin and Ethereum, launching the Coinbase Exchange, and venturing into mass-market dapps.

More recently, Coinbase incubated Base, an Ethereum L2 to establish a secure and cost-effective platform where developers are able to build applications and services on-chain, without the burden of exorbitant transaction fees or network congestion. This move aims to accelerate on-chain product releases and broaden access for more users to actively participate in the web3 ecosystem.

Base is built on the MIT-licensed OP Stack, in collaboration with Optimism, drawing on the expertise of various builders to ensure a robust and user-friendly experience.

What Sequence aims to bring to Base
